I’m from Jupiter, Florida.
My dad taught me to play golf. It’s more than a hobby, or a method of relaxation; it’s something that drives me. It’s more of an escape, and it’s good for my soul.
When I was young, we used to travel quite a bit. Dad played in various baseball leagues, so we traveled a lot around Florida. We made a lot of weekend road trips. It was a highlight of my childhood for sure.
Once for my birthday, we travelled all over Florida and visited five or six different cities to catch Spring Training. It was really cool. I remember driving home; it was dark, late on Sunday evening. I was ten, and I had just seen all of my favorite baseball heroes. I was exhausted. Dad tells the story that he was focused on driving, probably across Alligator Alley in the center of Florida, as I was dozing off. He said that, barely awake, I murmured, “I love you, Dad”. Looking back, I just remember the vibe of that car ride. It was a special moment.
